Out with the old; in with a dude!

The new year is going to be a good one. 2011 is going to bring me good things. I know this for a fact.

To wit: Seattle Rob is about to become D.C. Rob.

That's right. He's moving here.

Now, to temper all this a bit: The circumstances of his move are not ideal. He's had to say goodbye to a lot of friends and the dangerous-looking Gaelic sports team he plays for. He needs to get here, get settled and adjust to Eastern time. And though we've logged hours chatting online and spent a few days together, we both realize that's not quite enough to build a relationship on.

So, Rob and I have agreed to be just friends for now, and possibly forever -- we don't want to put any undue pressure on the situation (though it would be a bald-faced lie to say there aren't expectations, on both ends), and being in each other's lives as friends is better than not being in each other's lives at all. We're taking a practical approach to this.

But as with Rob himself -- a guy who totally proves that there are a few good ones out there -- his impending move here proves to me that good things are on the way, in whatever form they may take.

Happy New Year!

(P.S. I broke down and made a Facebook page for my blog because most  people said it was not, in fact, douchey. You'll get blog updates as they happen, as well as invites to my happy hours and all my helpful charts. Please click here to like it!)
